Today was full of cheering, yet again. There was another dirty one that I wanted to add, since Rach expressed such an interest in them (I knew I could count on you, Rach!):
We're on the hunt!
We're on the prowl!
We'll bend you over and make you howl!
With that being said, I'll continue with today's events. There's a beach about 15-20 minutes walk away and it's actually nice. Well the sand is nice. The water smells like sewage and there is a very simple explanation for that...it is sewage. Apparently, about 3 months ago, there was a lot of rain and the sewers overflowed. 3.2 million litres of raw sewage right into the Rideau Canal. But not to worry! The government thinks that this contamination is within safe levels of pollution and the canal will continue to be open for public use! Yay! Swimming anyone?
It was so hot today. This Ottawa weather is bizarre. It's freezing in the morning and at night so people are all bundled up in sweaters. But in the afternoon, shorts and a t-shirt still make you feel too hot to be out. I do love the sun and I don't mind the cold but it would be really great if I didn't have to change over 3 times a day.
There was a sand castle building competition at the beach but everyone ended up building sculptures of their team mascot. My team, with their foul minds and gutter thoughts, decided to illustrate the "F*** You, Ottawa U!" song. The result? A wolf raping a GG, howling at a full moon. The poor GG says, "Pack it in for Shinerama!" (Shinerama is a fundraiser for cystic fibrosis.)
Oh! Laundry's done! One moment please.
And we're back! Underneath the whole...scene is "WOLF PACK" in big letters but in bigger letters above the previously mentioned scene is "F*** OTTAWA U!" I was so ready for some little kid to walk over and say, "Daddy, what is the doggy doing to the horsey?" or "What does that word say?" Ahh, so young, so innocent, so ready to be scarred for life.
I was so beachy at the beach. I'm not usually a big lover of beach games and activities. It's just not really my venue. I hate the feeling of sunscreen congealed with sweat and the hot sand that burns your feet and the rocks and sticks in the sand that poke you when you walk, and all that sand in unwanted places. It's just not ideal! But TODAY, I actually partook in beach activities and I discovered that it was a lot of fun! I can see the draw to the beach. I went kayaking in these mini, one-person kayaks, and there was a guy showing off with his kayak tricks. He did a somersault in the water! I did not know that was possible! It's not sideways either, it's FORWARDS! I was impressed. I also played beach volleyball. Me! I did it! I sucked. But I did hit a stride for a little while. I served twice perfectly and I hit the ball over the night a couple of times before resuming my usual sucking. It was awesome!
So after all the rolling around in sand and stepping in the toxic water, I trudged on home and tried to buy my textbooks. I would like to echo what Rach said, "Textbooks = $$$$$$$$$$$" I am so bitter about their lack of used books. I had to pay full price for everything! All I can do is wave goodbye to my precious money. Goodbye, money, you've served me well.
Veronica's big surprise: I came back from the beach and it appeared that Kitty was in the room since the lights were on but I couldn't find her. She was in the washroom taking a shower (she didn't come to beach day) so I was just going to tell her that I was back when suddenly, on the wall right next to my bed, I see something that doesn't belong. Something that definitely was not there when I left. It was an...ELEPHANT POSTER! It's so cute! I love it! It's a baby elephant standing between two adult elephant legs. It's poking its little head out and his ears are spread out. It's called "Big Ears." So adorable! My room is complete.
There's a comedy show tonight. I'll see how that is. What I really want to do is eat and then sleep. I feel like I've been up for 20 years without sleep. It's fun but very hard on the muscles. I ache all over.
